A man who has riches without understanding is like the beasts that perish. - Psalm 49:20
Wealth of this world (not neccesary just monetary) cannot buy us health, security or happiness. So don't take delight or put your significance in them for they do not last forever.
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. - Matthew 6:19-21
Have you been too caught up with the pursuits of work, studies, relationships, material possessions....etc, and find that you are losing focus on God?
It is important to work hard and excel in our work and studies. But if all these pursuits are done without a deeper understanding of why we are doing it, it all amounts to nothing. And dangerously we may find ourselves sucked in and get lost in these pursuits.
Remember... what we termed as "Backsliding" does not happen overnight. It takes place slowly, day by day you inch away from the Lord without even noticing.
In this Year of Sabbath, and also this season of Fasting and Prayer, take time daily to check our hearts and keep ourselves aligned with God.
