SHOW ME MY JESUS!!!!!!!!!

hihihihhhihi my mummy is leading cell group this thursday and apprantly she has to summarise the whole last chapter of the book "The Power of Spiritual Alignment" by Frank Damazio for her cell members.

Soooo she asked me to take a look in case she needed some help =) It turns out that the book was really interesting and I would like to share one of the interesting point the author makes =

Quoted from the book....

"Members of the Willowcreek Community Church in Willocree, Illinois which is pastored by Bill Hybels, did a door to door survey around their church to ask the question, If you don't go to church, why? The five biggest reasons given by people surveyed were:

1. Its boring

2.Its irrelevant

3. The Church asks for money all the time
4. I am to busy already

5. I feel awkward at Church"

I was thinking about these 5 factors and realised that these factors also contributed to another boo boo.... "Church Hopping"

When the worship isn't electricfying or the sermons are becoming less insipring......so often the thought....

*PCA Accent + raises right hand to high heavens*
"It's time to move to another church so that I can spritually grow stronger"

You can smokescreen and "xian" all you want.... but the fact remains hard and cold..and that is you are simply buying God and treating church as a mere consumer commodity

Instead of serving God and our neighbours through church, we rate and choose churches based on the worship sessions, sermons and people....

One thing I am very sure about... be it you attend FCBC's youth service or a small little church in nepal, God's prescence and Glory is very much the same!!! If you can jump and go spirtually gah gah over Hillsong's "One Way", you can jolly well do the same for Franz Joseph Haydn's "Praise The LORD!!Ye Heavens Adore Him" <- what a mouthful for a title =x haha

I m very sure the electric guitar wasn't around during King David's time but he danced as though he was at a Planet Shaker's Ultraviolet worship session when he brought back the Ark of Covenant to Jerusalem in 2 Samuel 6:1-23

Frank Damizo drew the book to conclusion with this funny comparison of a football fanatic who stopped watching matches live because...

1. Eveytime time he went, they asked him for money

2.The people with whom he had to sit didn't seem very friendly

3.The seats were too hard and not at all comfortable

4. He went to many games, but the coach never came to call on him

5.The referee made a decision with which he could not agree

6. He suspected that he was sitting with some hypocrites- they came to see their friends and what others were wearing rather than to see the game.

7. Some games went into overtime, and he was late getting home

8. The band played some songs that he had never heard before and didn't even like.

Many of you bros are soccer fans and I m 100% sure you wont stop watching soccer because of any of the above reasons .... so lets try to do the same with God =) Lets strive to develope a PSALM 27:4-6 attitude

"One thing I ask of the LORD,this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.

Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD. " Psalm 27: 4-6

If we all love God a teeny weeny bit more =) wouldn't the world be a better place ?=)

WHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

Spiritual Children are blessings

i was mediating on some issues and thoughts today after service..

In a shock! i realised my ministry has grown tremedously to a number of 8 today. Seriously, it's always a "i cannot take it anymore" feeling whenever i meet problems in ministry.. many times, i really feel i don't fit to be leading so many of the boys. i always ask God to show me the way because i do really feel lost of where am i leading them to and what i can be doing with them to grow..

In the past, i was told by Ej bro (while he's my ah pa still) that having a ministry, our lives will be like rubberband being stretched by God to the max just before breaking point but it's also the reason why our hearts can have greater capacity for love.

For me.. Whenever they share their problems, i will put in all effort to think solutions for them, hoping to give the best advise and pray for them. There are also situations when i felt so heart-broken and think that the state they are stuck in was my fault for not guiding them well.. Not forgetting, i was also frustrated when they don't listen even when i said many many times. And also so so unappreciated at times.

What keeps me going in ministry is:
If God is such a good God in my life, i must rise up the next generation with God-centered hearts. Bcoz i know God will certainly bless them.

the passage in John21:15-17 always encourages me to move when Jesus asked Peter, does he love him. Peter was asked 3 times and he replied all 3 times he loves Jesus. Jesus then ask Peter to take care of his sheeps.

Frankly, i can still feel the love of God fully if i drop ministry. But it's ministry which God prepared for me that really teaches me what is love! i am greatly blessed by my spiritual sons to allow me the chances to learn to love and give till the point it hurts. i will not be who i am today without this special blessing from God.

My prayer:

Oh Lord.. even as we're in this G12 church, teach everyone of us to capture the G12 vision deeo within our hearts. It is Your gospel of love that we are saved, so allowed us to love everyone as ourselves and spread Your love fragance around. Let everyone of us be passionate to You and compassionate to people, just like Jesus.

Oh Lord, i thank you for the sheep You sent to me. Let me receive them as a blessing, nv a chore! Give me strength! Empower me Lord!

Amen!

Alvin

Building a Life of Resiliency

Resilient - characterized or marked by resilience: as a: capable of withstanding shock without permanent deformation or rupture b: tending to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change

I was greatly inspired by a book that I am reading now by Gordan MacDonald - "A Resilient Life" that I decided to start a blog penning down my own personal journey of growth in this area.

Dear family, regardless of which season of transition we are in, my prayer is that we learn to grow in resiliency in our Christian walk.

Check out my devotions on http://resilientpeople.blogspot.com

Warning!! Viewer Discretion encouraged.

Venue: Marina Square MacDonalds'

Reporters: The Dream Team

In this week's special report, the Dream Team brings you an exclusive interview with Professor Snuffy, the only P.H.D in cam-whoring.

We caught up with the Professor at Marina Square Macdonalds', where the cosy enviroment allowed for a frank dialogue with the man.

Seated at a round table, the Dream Team was able to clearly capture the Professor's heartfelt thoughts on cam-whoring. His theory? "With a great camera, comes great zi-lianess".

The Professor was more than happy to provide us with a demostration despite certain groans from the team, when the demostration got a bit too intense. The Dream Team is proud to present its limited edition collection of the world's greatest cam-whoring moments.

Warm up....

And in this never seen before collection, the Professor shows us his concept of teaching maths to poor African children through vivid images that will never leave the impressionable minds. *Groans*

The Classic Look at my Smile-One

Somewhat crooked fingers forming an unmistakable 2

Again his unique crooked fingers forming a 3-finger salute

4 fingers=Bashful Snuffy

5...Holler!

6 - Something common to most NS guys-suck thumb.

Cool 7

Kissing fingers-8

Crooked fingers yet again....9

Perfect 10 for Prof Flower

More than just posing in front of a camera,cam-whoring also expresses one's feelings. The Professor again demostrated a spectrum of common feelings through his now, infamous cam-whoring techniques.

Shy Snuffy

Happy Snuffy

????

Rage. If the Professor would just close his mouth, give us his sternest face and dab camo cream all over.......

Cool Snuffy

The Professor later confided in the Dream Team about publishing a manual on cam-whoring to better aid photographically-handicapped people.

So with cam-whoring,math and manuals, the Professor is set to further establish a legacy for generations and set a new standard for Permanent Head Damage. The Dream Team wishes Professor Snuffy, p.H.d cam-whoring all the best in his endeavours.

Devotion: Do I have a personal relationship with God?

This is the very question that popped straight into my mind as Pastor Khong was preaching the sermon yesterday. And my answer frankly is YES.

This is my 8th year in FCBC, and 5th year serving as a cell leader. Honestly sometimes I am just amazed and wonder what really kept me going on all these while? Looking back, the cell group of today is totally different from the cell group I joined and started back 8 years ago. There has been so many changes.. people have come and gone, and there has been so many times I have had to go through disappointments and failures. Frankly speaking dear family... there were many times I just feel like throwing the towel in and giving up. I felt it was not worth it to give anymore... I felt the hurt / rejection / disappointment were so painful that I just can't go on anymore.

The reasons to drop out and give up are just so overwhelming and many. I seemingly had all the valid reasons to give up. But what was it that kept me going? What was it that undergirth my walk such that spiritual drive grows stronger and stronger each year?

One basic reason: I know that God loves me.

I don't need to strive to perform or clock church attendance so that God will love me more. I don't need to please everyone everytime so that I can become Mr Popular in church. I don't need to prove myself to anyone.

Dear sons, where are you in your walk with God now? Are you tired? Are you feeling stagnant? Or feel that church is very packed with activities? Are you striving just to be part of many activities so that the cell brothers or leaders will love you more?

I pray that we learn to re-evaluate our motivations. God still love us even if we drop all these things. God still love us even when we fail. However, do not use this as an excuse for not serving God, but rather knowing that God loves us, may His love compel us to give more. May His love compel us to be excited about going to church and cell or cluster events. May His love drive us to be enthusiastic in sharing the goodness of God to others around.

Sons, many of you will be going through major transitions this year. Going in NS, pursuing higher education, going to work...etc. With each transition comes changes we have to adjust to, or having to do things out of our comfort zone, and even sometimes we feel like giving up on church.

At the end of the day, what are you holding on to? If we are just fulfilling an obligation or responsibility to God, it will never last, because we will soon have other 'gods' to attend to.

Can we singlemindedly devote our hearts to knowing the Love of God and loving Him?

John 6:26 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. 27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval."

(PS: I am not writing this devotion to 'demand' you guys to attend more church/cluster/cell events. My prayer is that when you participate in these fellowships, you know the reason why you are doing it.)

Work Work??

Had an interesting day at work today (Fri 13/06). As you all know, I'm working at planet CRuSH for the past 2 months. So here's the story :

9.20am : Reach office with Tea and 2 slices of Bread. (left them in cafe area)
9.25am : On the computer and check e-mail.
9.30am: Edit some work from the previous day.
10.05am: Stopped editing and Supervisor assign new work, which is to upload some pictures into computers for a group of JunYuan sec students who are coming later in the afternoon. (include toilet break)
10.50am : Arrival of TPE group. This means I have to take care of them for the next 3 hours.
11.30am : Eat my Bread and drink my Tea.
1.50pm : TPE group leave and the arrival of the Junyuan Sec students.
3.00pm : Arrival of next TPE group.
5.30pm : Need to edit some work for evening Wii Carnival Briefing and 14th June, Winning Eleven Group Stages match. (TPE Group leave.)
6.45pm : Dinner
7pm : Wii Carnival Briefing
9.45pm : Leave office.

Well that sums up my day. If i get to rate how i feel at the end of the day, I'll rate a 7.5 - 8 for my day in office. Why? Because I manage to settle a lot of work today. To me, I don't really like to stop doing my work once i got the momentum going because I may not be able to continue that momentum.

However, It is at the expanse of my meal times. (Please don't go to the ministry of manpower and report! I took breaks by playing CS with the TPE Groups.) Have I become a Work-a-holic? And I really have to agree with brother Jar, that it is not very good to skip meals to do work.

So Bros and Dad, what's your take?

Young People These Days - Selective Obedience

"Oi!Wake up!"
"But t'cher, very tired la, let me sleep la..."

Common sight in classrooms?

Welcome to the 2nd topic of Young People These Days module!
And i'm the module leader, the Corny Professor(e).

So what's the topic about? Read the title la...

Selective Obedience, it is something that occurs EVERYWHERE.
In homes, in school (be it curriculum or CCA), in the army, in workplaces, in church, etc.
I believe that most of us have fell to this in our lives, somehow.

So, what is selective obedience?
Selective obedience is obeying authority (duh, authority that's why you obey them), but only obeying those that one CHOOSES TO obey, yes, that includes jay-walking, i admit that i have jay-walk very often.

Example: Mum, "Wash your dishes!"
Child, "*some excuses* *fill in the blank*"

Even this, is called selective obedience.

So, WHAT'S WRONG WITH SELECTIVE OBEDIENCE?
Non-biblically, it simply means, "I respect you lor, but i respect you only XX%, i listen to you lor, but i listen to you only XX%". When you grow up, try doing this to your boss, see what happens.

Biblically, Romans 13:1-3 (Thanks, BibleGateway.com :D)
Submission to the Authorities
"1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you."

What I personally view is, if you practice selective obedience, you will live in guilt. Seriously, think about it guys.
If your sergeant asks you to clean toilet, but you don't, you will fear meeting your sergeant, for fear of punishment.
If you do not do assignments, you will fear going for lessons, for fear of getting disfavour with your teacher/lecturer/whatsoever.

What about your walk with God?
Do you practice selective obedience? Do you listen to God in ALL ways?

Signing off,
The CORNY Professore :P

Question to ponder over:
Why do people fear punishment from men, but still choose to not fully obey God who is so Almighty?

Don't you ever Give up!!

Thank you for bearing when things are not going well.

Thank you for not choosing to give up the faith for what this world may offer.

Thank you for letting me know that I've not been running this race alone.

Corny, but i'm still posting this anyways.

----------

I don't recall reading any Bible scriptures that say this Christian Walk will be an easy one. But instead it is written that 'Small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.'

They say that it is very easy to start this Christian walk, but not many will end it. For the past 4 years, I really find this statement very true. We just got back from Muar yesterday and thinking back during my first visit to Muar, I realise that most of my peers that went with me are already out of the Church. I've also seen this Cell group grow to where it is now. The blood and tears Dad shed and the countless of heartaches that are involved.

So Brothers, I'm urging you all and myself included!

Don't you ever Give up!!

-Kitkat Bro
